I am staring down the process of stripping an 8 foot teak handrail. Does anybody who has done this have any advice on the best way to go about it? I’ve used a heat gun and stripping tool on other teak features but they were nowhere near as complex. Maybe I’m being a baby… but would a chemical solution be better than heat?

Heat and scraper are probably the best. You really don’t want chemical strippers being absorbed by the teak, to be released later when you are trying to apply varnish that will last.
BUT! You stand a good chance of scorching the wood and evaporating the oils if you use heat.
