We are looking for an extra crew member for a sail from Tampa Florida, to Utila Honduras, departing in a few weeks. Mostly looking for a watchstander. No need for much sailing experience, but having been to sea would be nice. If you get seasick, we aint stopping. Someone I can trust to wake me up if something changes or doesnt look right. someone willing to do some cooking and help keep the boat tidy. Boat is a 1994 Catana 44.
Mostly interested in a female. We have had male crew, would like to try a female. Need to be somewhat in decent shape to help on deck.
We smoke, but we dont drink. Dry boat actually. Weed is ok.
The boat is going to Utila briefly, then into Rio Dulce Guatemala for hurricane season and a fairly intense haulout. If we all get along well, and you want to stick around in the rio, learn about the dark side of maintaining a boat, we can talk about that.
After hurricane season, we will be spending most of the next cruising season exploring the reefs of Guanaja. An island next to Roatan in Honduras.
We are very active divers. We have a compressor, and diving gear on board. Also kinda close friends with
Underwater Vision in Utila, and can help you get to know those folks if you are interested in certification or advancing your current certs. Once we get to Gunaja, we will be wanting a 3rd member aboard, so two can dive and one chase bubles in the dingy.
You will have a Private stateroom and head. We have a small washing machine on board. Air dry though..
We are happy to pay for food costs on a passage, but chipping in a little on food if you stay aboard longer than just the passage would be appreciated. As far as travel, and getting home after the trip, that will mostly be on you.
Our world views are mostly moderate, with a bit of a lean right. We are very much about the reefs, oceans and act accordingly. We dont spearfish, other than lionfish, but will drag a hook underway.
I was a tug Capt for many years, and the pond and I know each other. Alisha has a few thousand miles and is a good hand.
Have an awesome day,
Drew & Alisha
