Mitchell & Sons sailboats for sale

Frederick C Mitchell & Sons, based in Poole, Dorset, played a significant role in crafting motor and sailing vessels throughout the latter part of the 20th century. Notable models from their repertoire include the Atlantic 40, the TradeWind, Parkstone Bay Motorboats, and Barbary Ketches/Sloops. Len Mitchell, Frederick’s son, assumed leadership of the business, sustaining production of their boat range into the ’70s and ’80s.
Production at the yard is believed to have commenced around the late 1960s, primarily focusing on crafting the 21′ Parkstone Bay motorboats alongside a selection of other vessels, albeit in smaller quantities. Many of these boats utilized mouldings supplied by Robert Ives of Christchurch, with final fitting and finishing carried out at Mitchell’s yard. Although the yard’s size limited simultaneous construction to just 2 or 3 vessels, this contributed to their rarity and reputation for exceptional quality.
