Here’s another raw question for newcomers to boating. If you’ve got a minute, I’d really appreciate your honest and frank thoughts.
If you could summarise your fears about getting in to boating, what are they?
Is it: fear of the ocean? Finances? Getting lost? Something else?
(If you’re a seasoned sailor, do you remember what your greatest fears were when you got in to boating?)
Appreciate your input.
I mentor newcomers to boating, to help them overcome the unknowns, learn the theory and, generally, to learn to live aboard and I’m always curious about how people think.
Appreciate your input.

The fear of not being able to sail because of old age/illness/infirmity. There is always something in life to fear, sailing is something to embrace, once it has you in its palm, it has you for life and what an amazing life it can be
The thought of Falling overboard is a bit intimidating, but the thought of whoever I am with falling overboard (which would probably be the most experienced boater of the 2) and not being able to do all i need to in order to turn around and find the person (especially if it’s night!!)
