Just got my dishy. I notice that the plastic cover between the stand and the bottom of the swiveling dish is quite ill fitting or at very least flimsy (strong winds can certainly push it about, resulting in moist salty air easily entering the dish) and that there are several ventilation holes on the underside of the dish itself. I am afraid that it will soon become corroded in maritime conditions. I doubt the metal on the cable connector will last long before it rusts and stops transmitting any data down the cable. Have my doubts this dish can lasts longer than one year. Any comments or thoughts? Am I overly worried?

It’s not made or rated for marine use. So, yes, you are taking a risk. Your $700 terminal is not going to last as long as one installed, as intended, on a residence. Most of us out here on the water are willing to amortize that capital expense over a couple of years and not worry about it.
I’m not sure what you mean about an ill-fitting plastic cover; the bottom of the terminal and the face are sealed together; the only places contaminants can enter are at the spot where the upright enters the terminal, or the very small vent/equalization holes.
