Is there a set period of time dishy will reorientate itself after coming to a stop again?
Ours remains in one direction (not horizontal) for what seems like hours and hours and eventually I reboot the system as speeds are slow.
Thanks for the input…

Pointing vertical is it’s best orientation. It does NOT need to point at the satellites. Its phased array antenna is steered electronically in about 1ms. It can direct its beam anywhere within about 45º of the direction it’s pointing, just like the antennae on the satellites.
If it points at a particular bird, then when that bird goes out of range & the system passes your cell off to another bird (much like your cellphone switching between cell-towers) then Dishy may not be pointed correctly to talk to the new bird, which will result in a dropout (at the very least).
Leaving it pointing vertically means it will ALWAYS be able to talk to whatever bird wants to talk to it. That’s why many boats are disabling the motors in their Dishys & leaving it to point vertically all the time.
