I have been looking at a boat that is coming up for sale. It is a french home-made steel Ketch sailboat .it is the same as Joshua. It has galvanised rigging. I know nothing about the issues about this style of rigging. Besides the horse and the saddle. The boat has done mexico, Hawaii PNW several times solo.. What should I consider?
Gulet for sale in Bulgaria
My understanding of steel is you need a surveyor who knows metal hulls, most don’t. You will understand NDT (non destructive testing) soon enough. They’re a different animal, not for everyone.
There is a school of thought which says galvanised rigging is good because it rusts before failing so you get a good visual warning.
